Crochet Bikini Full Written Pattern

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

* crochet yarn thread (DO NOT USE REG.YARN FOR A SWIMSUIT)
* 2.5mm hook
* yarn needle
* scissors

NOTE:  This swimsuit was made specifically for pattern creating purposes and so not much thought was put into the actual size.  It turns out that this would fall under the category of size small.  Please be mindful of the size you’re hoping to achieve by referencing the size chart below (scroll to the bottom of the written pattern)… In the pattern, you will find advise on when to take note of sizing!

Bottom:
* ch.75
* hdc in 2nd ch from hook & each ch down row (74)
* ch.1 & turn
* {moss stitch: hdc in first st, sl.st in next… alternate all the way down, ch.1 & turn}
* in this next row and each one after, work 1 sl.st in each hdc from the previous row & work 1 hdc in each sl.st from the previous row… continue on for 4 rows (check size before moving onto next step.  Number of rows is just for a general guide.  Add more rows before moving onto next stage for a larger size)
* sc dec, continue with reg pattern ending the row with a sc dec
* {moss stitch} for 4 rows
* sc dec, continue with moss stitch pattern ending the row with a sc dec
* Repeat last row for a total of 25 rows
* complete 22 rows of moss stitch with no decrease
* begin increase rows: start off with 2 stitches in the first & last stitches of each row. Note be mindful of what stitch you’re beginning with so that you can maintain the stitch pattern (alternating sl.st & hdc) … do this for a total of 35 rows (check size before moving onto next step.  Number of rows is just for a general guide.  Add more rows before moving onto next stage for a larger size)
* 4 more rows of moss stitch
* ch.1… work hdc evenly around the entire outer edge of your work to create a clean border, cl.w/sl.st
* repeat last round as many times as desired (for the look you see in the picture you will do it one more time)
* fasten off & use yarn needle to weave tail in and out of the stitches to hide and secure

ad:



Top:
* ch.22
* hdc in 2nd ch from hook, sl.st in the next repeat * to * all the way down the row until you reach the last one, hdc x3 into the last ch of the row (mark the middle of the 3 sts)
* continue on with to back down the other side of the chain
* ch.1, turn your work
* work a sl.st in the hdc from the previous row and hdc in the sl.st from the previous row … continue on with this alternating pattern until you reach the set of 3 in 1 from the previous row (working in the middle of the 3 in the same stitch), hdc x3 into that stitch (mark the middle stitch), continue on with the alternating pattern down the rest of the row, ch.1 & turn work
* repeat last row until you have reached the desired cup size
* attach yarn at the bottom inner corner of one of the cups, ch.1 & sc into the first 4sts
* ch.1 & turn, crochet in the same 4sts
* repeat last row for a total of 4 rows
* line up stitches with the other inner bottom corner of the other cup & attach with sl.sts
* fasten off

TIE STRINGS:
* BACK: attach yarn at bottom corner of one of the cups
* ch.115, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook & each chain after that all the way down the row. Finish with a slip stitch into the corner of the cup where you started
* use a yarn needle and hide the tail ends by weaving in and out of the stitches (this will be to wrap half way around your back)
* Repeat those steps again for the other back tie string
* NECK: attach yarn at top point of one of the cups
* ch.115, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook & each chain after that all the way down the row. Finish with a slip stitch into the top point of the cup where you started
* use a yarn needle and hide the tail ends by weaving in and out of the stitches
* (this will be to wrap around & tie behind your back)
* Repeat those steps again for the other neck tie string
* BOTTOM: attach yarn/thread to a stitch lining up with the first row of border
* chain 100, sc into second chain from hook and in each chain down the row & into the stitch beside the one you joined to, ch.1 & turn work
* sc into each st down the row, ch.1 & turn work
* sc back down into each st & cl w/sl st into the stitch lined up with this row on the bikini bottom & fasten off
* use yarn needle to hide tail ends and secure
* repeat these steps for all 4 corners of your bikini bottom
